The 1993 Kirin Cup featured Japan, Hungary and the USA. In the opening game in Fukuoka on 7 March 1993 Hungary defeated Japan 1-0 in front of 30,000 fans with a goal from Jozsef Kiprich. In the second game in Nagoya on 10 March Hungary drew 0-0 with the USA. In the final game in Tokyo on 14 March Japan defeated the USA 3-1 in front of 48,000 fans with two goals from Kazuyoshi Miura and an own goal from Mike Lapper, but it wasn’t enough as Hungary won the 1993 Kirin Cup.
The official 1993 Kirin Cup programme has 60 x glossy colour A4 pages and is in Japanese. The programme includes the list of fixtures and details of the competing National Teams squads with small photos of each of their players. There are special articles on the Japan, Hungary and USA National Teams and on their star players (with full page colour photos) including Ruy Ramos of Japan, Lajos Detari of Hungary and Tony Meola of the USA amongst others. There are details of Japan's qualifying fixtures for World Cup 1994 with ticket prices and also an advert for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Championship to be played in Japan later in 1993.
